Winter in Västerås

Clear blue skies, squeaky white snow and a crackle in the air are all signs that it is winter and high time for all the wonderful activities that this time of year has to offer.

During the winter, there is a public skating rink open on the main city square that is perfect for people of all ages. During the weekends, different events are often held there.  It is also possible to skate at Rocklunda, both outside on Hakonplan or inside in ABB Arena Syd.

When the snow and cold comes to Vasteras, you can also...

Go Nordic skating on Lake Mälaren, as long as the ice is thick enough of course!

Go Skiing and snowboarding at Vedbobacken in central Västerås. There are slopes for people of all ages as well as a sledging run. Vedbobacken need 3-4 days with freezing temperatures in order to open the slopes for the season.

And if you prefer cross-country skiing, there are tracks at Rocklunda, Björnö and Bjurhovda.

So put on your winter clothes and make a packed lunch for a wonderful winter’s day out in Västerås.
